Overlap

(series of metal installations)

Overlap, variable dimensions, metal replicas of Athenian doors and windows.

The historical neighborhood of Athens is a juxtaposition of abandoned houses and ancient remains, with residents and homeowners living in close proximity to each other. Each new occupant must adapt to the traces of the previous resident, creating a new reality that incorporates modern and complex aesthetics. The OVERLAP series is akin to a constantly changing house chart, which never forgets its past.

My artistic approach involves a dialogue between various artistic elements, with a focus on architectural elements and geometrical forms. I strive to create works that are characterized by simplicity, purity, and abstraction, while also incorporating elements of beautification and lyricism.

At the same time, my work also reflects on the contemporary social, economic, and political disorder, particularly with regard to the fundamental human right to housing. As this right is increasingly called into question, my art serves as a commentary on the complex and often fraught relationship between people and their homes.
